DLA Piper advises Sportway on EUR 20 million growth financing

DLA Piper has advised Sportway Media Group on a growth capital raise led by Gamma Waves Partners, with continued participation from existing shareholders. The financing, worth approximately EUR 20 million, values the company at SEK 1 billion post-money.

Sportway, founded in 2017, has developed an AI and automation platform used by sports federations, leagues, clubs and media companies to produce, distribute and monetise live sports content at scale. The company is active in more than 20 countries and more than 15 sports, works with more than 70 federations and leagues, and produces more than 250,000 live events annually across a network of more than 2,200 AI-powered cameras. The proceeds will be used to fund continued international expansion, product development and strategic acquisitions.

Gamma Waves is a permanent-capital investor focused on sports IP and sports technology. Its team brings together well-known owners, operators and athletes from global sport alongside experienced growth and technology investors, and it backs businesses across sports media, fan engagement and data analytics.

The transaction is the latest in a series of significant technology and sports-sector mandates for DLA Piper in the Nordic market, and further underlines the firm's growing presence advising high-growth technology companies on complex, cross-border capital raises.
